Autumn is well and truly here and we've a lot of news to report.
Thanks to all who attended or volunteered at the revived, End of Term event, last month. This was very well received, had a great family friendly vibe and boosted our connection with other community focused groups. We partnered with our neighbour's the Clifton Hill Scout group on the sausage sizzle and are looking to partner with others at future End of Term events.
Good bye and thanks to Kaz!
Sadly our bar manager Kaz, won't be with us after the 19th April, as she is moving on - best of luck Kaz and thanks for developing such an awesome place of beer! Our venue manager Adam will be picking up the reigns in the interim while we go through a recruitment process to find our next amazing bar manager, so you may see some temporary supervisors over the next month or 2.
Put your hand up to help
We know lots of members have helped in the past for events and in the bar - and we are taking this opportunity to trial if anyone is keen to help out in the short term during our regular opening hours. Please take a look at Bar shifts and set up/pack down shifts (none more than 2 hours!) and sign up below if you are interested in contributing to the growth of the Clubhouse:
April 20 - 30th 2024 shifts here: volunteersignup.org/QE7HR.
May 2024 shifts here: volunteersignup.org/9MBLQ
To sign up, just follow the instructions on the page. It only takes a few seconds to do.
Thank you for volunteering!
If the trial is successful, and volunteers are keen, we may look to offer more regular volunteer opportunities.
Volunteering is a great opportunity to become part of the awesome clubhouse team, increase belonging and connection, socialise, meet people, learn new skills - and an important part of any community club.
Every penny saved in staff costs, is an opportunity to reinvest in the club and ensure we can not just stay open (highest priority for members!) but develop the things our members want (shade, kitchen, more opportunities for community connection, etc), so if you can help with just one shift that would be amazing! We commit to offer training and support during each shift.
Join the team:
We are on the look out for experienced bar staff to join the team as casual paid members of staff and regularly work one (or more) of our weekend shifts. We want to develop an experienced team that brings diversity, energy, enthusiasm and passion to the Clubhouse. If you are experienced, love the clubhouse and want to pick up a few extra hours at the weekend please e-mail admin@theclubhousemoorooka.org.
Coming Up:
We’ve a packed schedule of events organised for the rest of April 2024 and more coming up for May.
Our Strategy:
We will shortly be sharing a draft Strategic Plan and an outline Concept Plan for the Clubhouse Moorooka. We genuinely want new ideas and input from all parts of our local community, and will reach out on this soon! We are also currently reviewing / ratifying a volunteer appreciation policy - to recognise the time, work and commitment of our members that volunteer and contribute to our success.
New Fencing:
Over the next couple of months we will be replacing the old colourbond and weldmesh fencing with the type already installed along Koala Road. A key requirement of the Brisbane City Council (our landlords) - this will dramatically improve the feel of all the outside spaces. We are also looking to improve the accessibility of the entrance along Vendale Avenue.
Exciting times for The Clubhouse Moorooka, and we want to bring every one of you on this journey! One last thing - we've still got a board vacancy for Treasurer (we have a book keeper - so not too big a job I promise!) if you have any accountancy, financial or commercial skills please reply to admin@theclubhousemoorooka.org.
Warm regards,
Gavin Hull and The Clubhouse Moorooka Team
