Get on board with The Clubhouse Moorooka

The Third Place Group are recruiting new board members to help us bring the next stage of our vision for the The Clubhouse Moorooka to life.

Do you have skills and experience to help us create a vibrant community club that brings people together through diverse social and recreation activities?

You are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) telling us about your skills and experience and what you can bring to our board. The Clubhouse Moorooka members are strongly encouraged to nominate.

Fill out an EOI here.

Nominations close at midnight on 6 March 2022.

The Third Place Group (‘TTPG’) is a not-for-profit organisation that was awarded a lease by Brisbane City Council to operate The Clubhouse Moorooka (former Moorooka Bowls Club), a licensed community sport and recreation club.

Our vision is to create a welcoming, family-friendly, community hub for locals to meet and socialise, creating a connected, diverse, supportive and healthy community.

Our plan is to revitalise the former Moorooka Bowls Club and make better use of the facilities. A mix of contemporary events and activities, affordable, sophisticated food and drink offerings, and a refurbishment will make the space more attractive and welcoming for the community to gather.

We are seeking nominations from suitably skilled community members who would like to volunteer their time to join our Board of Directors.

Expectations of The Third Place Group Board Members

  • It is a requirement that all Board Members must be paying members of The Clubhouse Moorooka

  • Board Members should have an understanding of organisational governance

  • Nominees must demonstrate support for TTPG’s mission, which is to bring people together through social experiences and shared space with an aim to increase social capital and create better connected more resilient communities

  • Nominees should be committed to supporting the restoration of The Clubhouse Moorooka to provide the community of Moorooka and surrounds with a dynamic licensed community club.

  • Board Members are required to attend Board meetings (which are currently held on a monthly basis for approximately two hours)

  • Board Members must also allow time to read and comment on Board papers

  • Board Members will be asked to participate in annual strategic and operational planning process and may on occasion be asked to participate in professional development

  • Board Members are also encouraged to assist with actions relevant to their skills from our Operational Plan and may be asked to oversee subcommittees or working groups as required.

  • Board Members are encouraged to attend, support and/or assist with The Clubhouse Moorooka events on occasions

  • Board Members must comply with TTPG’s commitment to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace and venue.

The Board Recruitment Process

Current TTPG Board Members will assess Expressions of Interest with a view to ensuring a balance of specific skills, knowledge and experience we need, which are detailed in the EOI (Your skills and experience).

In addition to appointing new Board Members from this process we may create an eligibility list for future appointments. We will also consider if some applicants may be suited to participation on a specialist volunteer subcommittee to support special projects at The Clubhouse Moorooka. Please indicate if you are happy to be contacted about participating on a sub-committee in the EOI.
